SGJ is such a great interview...from one interview to another he's always got something new to say about the genre and his own work. That was great work, James!
I completely agree that throwing characters you don't care about into the 'meat grinder' as SGJ says can completely turn me off a horror film or book. It you don't find a way to connect to a character, then it's hard to care that they died and thus, you sort of start to root for the slayer. It's an interesting middle ground that horror authors would have to take because you do need to throw a few nameless characters into the grinder to grow the body count but having your reader connect with a character (in some fashion) and then suddenly, BAM!, they're in the fight for their life! It gets me every time. Awesome interview, James! So many film suggestions to explore.
Thank you! And I think it goes without saying that if someone on here is hyping a movie they probably don't mean the dreaded remake (esp where Black Christmas is concerned).
Very interesting interview, James. I also really like the artwork. Now I want to read both of SGJ's latest books. Thanks for shating this.
Testing, testing, 1-2-3...
